    Technology of titanium slag production in an ore-thermal furnace using a single-stage method

    JSC “Titanium Institute” has a modern advanced technology for producing titanium slags in an ore-thermal furnace using a single-stage method.

    We offer ready-to-implement technological solutions for producing titanium slags in an ore-thermal furnace with 25 MVA transformers.

    Design of a full complex of the technological process for producing titanium slags in arc ore-thermal furnaces (ARF).

    Titanium slag is a product in high demand on the world market.

    The process of producing titanium slags from ilmenite concentrates involves smelting ilmenite concentrate in arc ore-thermal furnaces (ARF). Smelting occurs in a semi-closed mode on a powder charge with the production of titanium slag with a given content of iron oxide, as well as associated metal (cast iron).

    The technology for obtaining titanium slags allows them to be produced as a commercial product both for obtaining titanium sponge and for producing titanium dioxide pigment using chlorine or sulfate methods.

    APPLICATION

    – 95% of the total production volume is used to obtain pigment titanium dioxide for use in the following industries:

    • Production of white pigment for the pulp and paper industry
    • Paint and varnish industry
    • Production of synthetic fibers
    • Nanotechnology
    • Production of plastics
    • Production of heat-resistant and optical glass
    • Production of white ceramics
    • Production of ceramic dielectrics
    • Production of rubber products

    – 5% of the total volume is the production of metallic titanium (titanium sponge) for use in the following industries:

    ADVANTAGES OF THE TECHNOLOGY AND GUARANTEED PERFORMANCE

    • Guaranteed performance indicators of the proposed technology for the production of titanium slag in ore-thermal furnaces (RTF):
    • RTF productivity – 62,627 tons/year;
    • titanium extraction from concentrate (with return of recycled dust) into marketable products (titanium slag) – at least 98%;
    • obtaining titanium slag of a given composition – TiO2 content – 84-90% and FeO – 5-7%;
    • obtaining titanium slags in the form of marketable products both for the production of sponge titanium and for the production of pigment titanium dioxide by chloride or sulfuric acid methods;
    • obtaining by-product high-quality metal;
    • all processes of material transportation, loading and unloading, grinding, classification, dosing and mixing, briquetting, drying, are mechanized and automated;
    • ensuring explosion safety of the process and utilization of secondary energy resources.

    In the process of design work, JSC “Titanium Institute”, if necessary, can develop a 3D model with the mandatory use of BIM technologies (Revit).
